Spiritual Director Comments - Fr. Gil
Father will have special Thanksgiving masses on the Wednesday, November 21 at 6:00 p.m. and Thursday, November 22 at 8:00 a.m. Parishioners may bring their wine and bread to be blessed.
Father received some questions about Friends of St. Anthony.  A decision was made to break away from national St. Vincent de Paul. Now we are a parish group so the name had to be changed along with the bank account.  The boundaries are now our parish boundaries.  Father thinks it will be more efficient.  Recipients do not have to be Catholic for us to help them.
Checks for the poor box should be made out to St. John of the Cross.
We broadcast the Mass every day.  Halloween and All Saints Day the internet was down and Father received two calls from people asking what happened so people are watching the Mass on the internet.
If Father has worked out the figures correctly, we have managed to save enough of the loan amount in building and furnishing the new building to replace the roof on the parish hall.
If we have enough still left on the loan, stripping the parking lot will be next on the list.
Father said he has no problem leaving the lights on outside the church for choir practice, but someone needs to turn them off.  It cost $    per bulb to have them changed on the pole.
If you need A/C turn it on, but you have to remember to turn it off.

-  Next Board Meeting:  March 20th
-  Next General Meeting will be on Wednesday, April 11th
Spiritual Director Comments - Fr. Gil
Holy Week is very busy and hectic and any help the Ladies Guild can provide will be greatly appreciated.   Father Gil asked that if you are asked to participate in Holy Week to please say yes.
The general contractor and subs meet every Thursday morning.  They are at least 5 weeks behind schedule.  They are way behind on the bathrooms.  There is a snag with sewer lines, everything from the new building needs to be re-routed and the extra work will cost $.  Father Gil said they are still shooting for the end of April but he doesn’t expect the center to be finished until the end of May.
Furniture still needs to be ordered, but there is no place to put it until the building is finished.   He is open for suggestions.  At the next meeting we can have a walk through because day light savings time starts next week and it will be light enough at the next meeting in April.
There was a day of reflection at Camp Abbey for priest.  Father Gil said the camp looks good.  The new building beside the cafeteria sleeps 250 in dormitories.  Of the $3M it cost, $2M was a donation.  It is the best youth facility in the state.
Father asked for questions.
Q – Is Camp Abbey for youth only
A – It is used for parish picnics and by college students.  The monks use it for only 8 weeks out of the year during the summer.   The camp is rented for $1 a year from the monks.

Paula thanked everyone who helped in decorating the church for Christmas! It looked beautiful.
We will need lots of help in taking down the decorations. More info on the exact day & time to be announced .Please come out , meet your fellow parishioners, & dedicate a little time to your church.
Beth addressed 2 critical issues : ADORATION  and  CHURCH CLEANING.
We need more committed people to come for adoration & donate 1 hour of time to sit & pray silently before the Blessed Sacrament on Wednesdays.  Adoration is from 8:00am until the 6:00pm mass. The most needed hour is from 11 – 12. Please consider this beautiful expression of prayer & worship.  (If you can’t commit to a certain time every week, please be a substitute.)
Also, we are in desperate need of volunteer church cleaners. Our teams are diminishing due to age, illnesses, deaths, people moving, etc. Each team cleans 1 Thurs. every month after the 8:00am mass.  It only takes an hour (or less if the team has many members) . There are no special skills involved. Men & women are welcome. It a wonderful way to meet other members of the church community, to serve God in a humble but very necessary work , & to really feel that this is YOUR church.  Contact Paula Powell, Beth Geohegan, or simply call the church office (882-3779) & tell Margaret that you’d like to volunteer.   PLEASE JOIN US.

Family Day was great fun.

We mourn the passing of Archbishop Hannon.  SJC was very dear to him. Let us remember him in our prayers, and pray to him for his intercession  for our needs & those of our parish family.

New church bulletin looks terrific. The ads pay for the cost of printing the bulletin, so please read them & use their services if possible.

Bldg. project:
According to the contractor’s schedule, we should be able to use the center
til Jan. Please us the side door(near grotto) & back door (kitchen).
Lighting problems will be resolved once the project is complete.
(As for the back lot lights – the procedure to turn them on & off involves the switch next to the side door inside the center. They
can only be turned ON & Off from this one switch .)

John Almon will be posting construction pictures on the website weekly.

Bldg. fund donations have not been coming in as expected.  Let’s all
remember our commitment to the project & help as much as possible.

Archdiocese has leased a bldg. next to Hood Chevrolet  for satellite
    offices on the North Shore.

Fr. Gil is really enjoying his new assignment as Director of Seminarians.

Estelle announced that the LG Board has been considering various options as a possible fund-raiser. We suggested having a Garage Sale. This would be a major endeavor & would require a lot of work & participation by many people, but could be very successful. After much discussion about what type of items would be for sale & suggestions from the various members, Estelle asked the members for a vote. The vote for having the Garage Sale was unanimous; therefore we will move forward with this plan.
The LG Garage Sale will be held on Sat. June 4th. The definite time (tentatively 8AM – 2PM) & more info will be posted in the parish bulletin & at the next LG meeting. Estelle made up a tentative list of “rules” for the Garage Sale, including what forms of payment will be accepted, the types of items that will be accepted (clothing; small, working appliances; lamps & other small furniture; books, CDs & DVDs; pots & pans; dishes & glassware; decorations; homemade crafts & other new items, etc.;) & those that will not be accepted (no paint or chemicals; nothing broken, torn, or dirty), etc. The Board will fine-tune this list before the next meeting.   Start cleaning out your attics, closets, & garages now. No items can be brought to the Center until after First Communion., which is May 1.    This project will be open to all parishioners in the parish. The more items, volunteers, & customers we get – the more successful we will be. Contact the church office or Estelle Baudier if interested in helping.
Any leftover clothing will be donated to the SJC St. Vincent de Paul society for their clothing drive.  Any other leftover items will be given to Habitat for Humanity.
